Standing Committees Section 1 - Sunshine Committee. The committee will contact those members who are ill or homebound and report to the Lodge. The Sunshine Committee will take the responsibility to honor members birthdays. Section 2 - Media Committee. A committee of two local lodge members shall be appointed during the first meeting in the month of January. Members of this committee shall obtain press exposure for the lodge in newspapers, the Svea website, social media and other publications (Swedish or Nordic in nature) circulation in the local lodge neighborhood. Section 3 - Archive Committee. A committee of two local lodge members, shall be appointed during the first meeting in the month of January. Members of his/her committee shall sort and file the local lodge documents in a way that ensures complete safety. Section 4 – Benevolence Committee. A committee of two local lodge members shall be appointed during the first meeting in the month of January. Members of the committee shall investigate community agencies in need of assistance in the form of tangible donations – ie welcome bags, toothpaste, hygiene items, clothing, etc. Section 5 – Membership Committee. A committee of two local lodge members shall be appointed during the first meeting in the month of January. Members of the committee shall develop and implement strategies for recruiting new members, retaining existing members and addressing the interests of long distance members. Section 6 – Lucia Committee. A committee of up to four local lodge members shall be appointed during the first meeting in the month of January. Members of this committee shall coordinate all aspects of the Santa Lucia Festival of Light, held each December. Subjects for this committee will address recruiting participants from the Lodge and outside parties, coordinating the open house, coordinating the Nordic Nook, maintaining the costumes, advertising our program, working with the music program at Luther Memorial, and executing the pageant. Section 7 – Finance Committee. The Finance Committee will be made up of the Chair, Financial Secretary, and Treasurer. The Auditor may be consulted for investment suggestions and financial planning as needed. Section 8 – Cultural Committee. The Cultural Committee will be made up of the Executive Board and the Cultural Chairman. Their responsibility will be to develop an annual calendar of activities and programs that will enhance the Scandinavian experience and knowledge of our heritage. Each activity or program will have its own group to implement the calendar: Walpurgis, Kraftskiva, Midsommar, Lucia. |
